What’s new in the campaign?

The Call of Duty: Vanguard campaign focuses on Task Force One: a unit consisting of multinational soldiers from Allied Nations. Fight across the Western and Eastern Fronts, the Pacific, and North Africa with Soviet sniper Polina Petrova, American fighter pilot Wade Jackson, and Australian demolition expert Lucas Riggs. The team is led by Cameroonian-British paratrooper Arthur Kingsley and his right-hand man Richard Webb, who served together with Kingsley. Task Force One is in charge of stopping Hermann Wenzel Freisinger, chief interrogator of the SS and the mastermind of Project Phoenix. Go behind enemy lines and obtain vital Axis intelligence to turn the tides of war. This is the most intense single-player Call of Duty experience to date!

What’s new in multiplayer?

We already got a taste of Vanguard’s multiplayer in the open beta and now, the game mode is expanded with 20 maps available at launch. Battle it out on diverse maps such as Gavutu, Eagle’s Nest, Red Star and Hotel Royal, all set on different fronts of World War II.

Vanguard also introduces two brand new game modes: Champion Hill and Patrol. Champion Hill is a survival tournament mode with multiple arenas, in which players fight to be the last man standing. Patrol delivers a fresh new take on the fan-favorite Hardpoint mode, introducing an objective that gradually moves around the map. You’ll need both gunskill and tactics to come out victorious in these new multiplayer modes!

You’ll also be able to dictate the pace of your multiplayer matches with the brand new “Combat Pacing” system. Select one of three predefined pacing filters and instantly adjust the intensity of your matches with either 6v6 gameplay (Tactical), 10v10 or 12v12 gameplay (Assault) or 24v24 gameplay (Blitz).

Last but not least, the Gunsmith system from Modern Warfare 2019 is making a return. This allows you to fully customize your favorite weapons with up to 10 different attachments. Create your ultimate loadout and become even deadlier!

What’s new in zombies?

For the first time in Call of Duty history, Treyarch Studios is continuing the zombies storyline outside of the core Black Ops series. Vanguard features the complete prologue to the Dark Aether story that was introduced in Black Ops Cold War. This time, you’ll have to face off against the undead in an attempt to stop Oberführer Wolfram Von List and his evil plans. 

The story unfolds at launch in the new “Der Anfang” game mode, a mode that combines traditional round-based gameplay with objectives. Der Anfang takes place in various environments such as the ruins of Stalingrad, the rooftops of occupied Paris and the Japanese swamp of Shi No Numa (a returning classic from World At War). Use Dark Aether portals to discover every front!

Team up with mysterious entities such as Inviktor the Destroyer and Bellekar the Warlock to get access to Artifacts (previously known as Field Upgrades in Black Ops Cold War). Another new zombies feature is the Altar of Covenants. Offer Sacrificial Hearts at the Altar after completing an objective to obtain powerful upgrades. Of course, Der Anfang also features plenty of fan-favorite zombie elements such as the Mystery Box, Perks, and the Pack-a-Punch machine.

New Warzone integration post launch

Warzone fans rejoice! Vanguard will be fully integrated with Call of Duty: Warzone post launch. Level up your weapons and Battle Pass across multiplayer, zombies and Warzone with global progression that carries over everywhere. The Warzone integration, which is planned for December 2, also features 40 new weapons, the new RICOCHET anti-cheat system, and the brand new Warzone map “Caldera”. Vanguard owners will get early access to this Pacific battlefield. Can’t wait until December 2? Play the Last Days of Verdansk event, starting on November 18.
