Will EA FC 27 have an open world feature? The rumour that this game mode would be added to the 2027 version of the popular football game has been circulating the internet for a long time. Now, it's finally confirmed: The Grounds is coming to EA FC 27.

What is EA FC The Grounds?

EA FC The Grounds is an open world game mode in FC 27. In November 2025, EA FC was running playtests of upcoming features for the 2027 version of the game. The contents of the tests were quickly discovered on social media, and more and more leaks began to surface.

Then, on January 27, 2026, Matheus Games discovered that EA SPORTS FC filed a trademark application for ‘FC The Ground’ on Justia. The details on this registration state that: “the stylized letters FC set in a triangular shape titled on an angle, with a small triangle at the left corner and the words ‘THE GROUNDS’ in stylized letters.”

When the Official Reveal Trailer of EA FC 27 dropped, it was finally revealed that The Grounds will be featured in the game. We'll have to wait a bit longer to see what mode this game mode has in store for us. All we have now is a short description that EA FC shared on their website: "Step into The Grounds*, a social football playground where the streets meet the stadium. From Kickabouts and 1v1s to teaming up with friends in Clubs, connect with renowned football mentors, improve your abilities, and express yourself on and off the pitch."

Will The Grounds replace FUT or Career Mode?

No, The Grounds will not replace Career Mode or FUT. Both modes are also listed as playable game features in EA FC 27.
