What is EA FC The Grounds?
The Grounds is an open-world concept for EA FC. In November 2025, EA FC was running playtests of upcoming features for the 2027 version of the game. The contents of the tests were quickly discovered on social media, and more and more leaks began to surface. According to the leaks and players’ expectations, The Grounds will most likely mirror the open-world feature in NBA 2K. This means it’ll have a bunch of mini-games that players can hop in and out of.
Is The Grounds coming to EA FC 27?
An official confirmation of The Grounds coming to EA FC 27 hasn’t been released, but we do have a pretty good clue that the open-world feature is in the game. On January 27, 2026, Matheus Games discovered that EA SPORTS FC filed a trademark application for ‘FC The Ground’ on Justia. The details on this registration state that: “the stylized letters FC set in a triangular shape titled on an angle, with a small triangle at the left corner and the words ‘THE GROUNDS’ in stylized letters.”
Will The Grounds replace FUT or Career Mode?
Since there’s no official information on EA FC 27 yet, we also don’t know what features will be included in the game. So we don’t know whether or not The Grounds will replace either FUT or Career Mode. Since these two game modes are both very popular in the game, it doesn’t seem likely that EA FC will get rid of either of them. But we can’t say this for sure, of course.
When is EA FC 27 coming out?
There’s no official release date for EA FC 27 yet. However, almost all fans seem to agree that the game will release on September 25, 2026. This would be in line with the usual release date for EA FC games in recent years:
