What’s EA FC Career Mode?

Always wanted to know what life is like for a football player or manager? That’s exactly what Career Mode in EA FC is for. In this offline, single-player mode, you get to live out the entire career of a player or manager. This includes everything from training and strategising to completing objectives and specific events.

Manager Career vs. Player Career

There are a couple of options you can choose in Career Mode. First, you have to choose if you want to take on a Manager or Player Career. We’ll explain what both modes entail:

Manager Career
As a football manager, your goal is to build the best team there is. Select the best players, strategise, and let the trophies come your way!

In the Manager Career, you can choose between two options:

  • Create your own Customised Manager.
  • Play as a Real Manager.

Player Career
In Player Career, you step into the shoes (or cleats) of a football player. Do you have what it takes to lead your team to victory? Complete drills, match objectives and events to climb the leaderboards.

In Player Career, you can choose between four options:

  • Create your own Customised Men’s Player.
  • Create your own Customised Women’s Player.
  • Play as a Real Player.
  • Play as an Icon Player.

What's new in EA FC 27 Career Mode

Since EA FC hasn’t released any information about their new game yet, we don’t know what changes to Career Mode will come in EA FC 27. In EA FC 26, the following editions were added to Career Mode:

  • Manager Live Challenges
  • Dynamic Manager Market
  • Authentic preset
  • Unexpected events shape the Manager Career Mode
  • Archetypes of iconic players

Tips and tricks for EA FC Career Mode

Need some help in EA FC’s Career Mode. We’ve gathered the best tips and tricks for both Player and Manager Careers.

Player Career tips

Here are our tips to keep your Player Career game as smooth and engaging as possible:

Choose a club where you get play time
When you start a Player Career, your rating will usually be between 65 and 70. It’s tempting to immediately start playing in one of the big clubs like Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain, but this might not be the best move for your career.

The players in this team will probably have higher ratings than you, which might result in your getting benched a lot. If you want to grow, playtime is necessary. That’s why a smaller club might be a better fit.

Customise to your position
Changing a player’s height and weight might seem like an unnecessary step when you’re creating your player, but it can actually have a significant impact on your game. Shorter players tend to be a bit better in sprints, while heavier players have more strength.

Pick an exciting position (and switch roles)
A Player’s Career can stretch over multiple seasons, which means it can be difficult to keep yourself engaged. That’s why it’s crucial to pick a position you enjoy playing. Bored with the current position you have? Try switching to a different one!

Spend your XP Points wisely
For every match you play with your player, you’ll earn XP Points. You can spend those points on skills to improve your growth. It’s tempting to max out in a certain field. This might help you stand out in the beginning, but it can quickly stunt your growth. A better choice is to build a strong base that leverages your specific strengths and build from there.

Make balanced career moves
Transfers are a fundamental part of the Player Career Mode, but it takes a pro to time these properly. It’s very tempting to make the switch to a big club once you get the contract, but it might not always be the best move for your player. The key is to build enough momentum and score a high enough rating before you make your transition to an elite club.

Manager Career tips

Need some tips for EA FC’s Manager Career Mode? We’ve got you covered:

Use multiple coaches to maximise development
Two people know more than one; this is also true for coaches in Manager Career! Adding more coaches to your staff will lead to better player training, which will improve their games. Pay attention to the coaches' expertise and knowledge level to leverage the ultimate staff.

Invest in your Youth Academy
A good tactic is to always be on the lookout for young talent. Platinum Players with a rating between 75 and 94 have very big growth potential and can become crucial players in your career. They can take your club to the next level, improve your status as a manager and ensure a massive transfer fee.

Be an honest negotiator
Honesty pays off in EA FC. When negotiating with a player, you want to be upfront and real. Making false promises, such as guaranteed game time, can leave a squad frustrated. This will have a huge impact on your club’s performance and ultimately your rating as a manager.

Optimise your training time
Balancing your training schedule is crucial if you want to make it far in Career Mode. You’ll have to look for the sweet spot between intensity and rest. Too much training can leave your players exhausted on match day, but too little can make them lose focus. On top of that, it’s also worth looking into the FC IQ feature to train your players into specific roles. This way, you can create the ultimate strategy.

Focus on scouting first
Scouting is a key factor in making the best negotiations and deals. Got your eye on an interesting player? Make sure to send out your scours first. This way, you’ll get a really close estimate of the player's price tag. It might not be 100% accurate, but it can help you a great deal in deciding which players to invest in.
