After a two year hiatus, the biggest gaming convention is back! Gamescom officially kicks off on August 24 2022 and we’ve assembled a comprehensive list of all major booths and playable games at Gamescom 2022, so you can visit well-prepped. Viel Spaß!
Even with Nintendo and Sony skipping this year’s Gamescom, there’s so much to see and play. Once again, Halls 7, 8, 9 and 10 serve as the Entertainment Areas, where you can find all the big (and small) publishers (and where it will be the most crowded). And don’t forget to also make a stop at Hall 5 because this is where you’ll find merchandise valhalla!
Note that Halls 2, 3 and 4 are Business areas, where developers will be showing off exclusive behind the scenes demos. Sadly, these halls are off-limits if you’re not part of the media or a trade visitor.

We’re kicking off with Ubisoft, one of the biggest publishers in the world, best known for the Assassin’s Creed series. Don’t get your hopes up immediately, because we’re pretty sure we won’t be seeing any new Assassin’s Creed games at Gamescom. Ubisoft hasn’t made their Gamescom line-up public yet, but it’s a safe bet we’ll see their new pirate simulator game Skull & Bones and the fun crossover game Mario & Rabbids: Spark of Hope at their booth. We have our fingers and bones crossed for some more surprises!
The Japanese powerhouse Bandai Namco is bringing three highly anticipated games to their Gamescom booth, and best of all: they’re all playable! First up is Park Beyond, a promising theme park management sim coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Also playable for the very first time is The Devil in Me, the newest game in The Dark Pictures Anthology horror series. And last but not least, visitors can feast on One Piece Odyssey, which is shaping up to be a treat for fans of the manga and anime.
Don’t underestimate the allure of Farming Simulator, because the series has taken the world by storm and continues to be a big hit every year. This year, Giants Software will showcase Farming Simulator 22 at Gamescom, including content that is yet to be announced. There’s also a stage program hosted by presenter Tobias Wobbe, and there will be goodies to pick up at the booth. Even if you’re not itching to plough the fields, it seems it will still be worthwhile to visit the booth!
Coincidence or not, but publisher Team17 is bringing a whopping seventeen games to their Gamescom booth! The stand is divided into different age classifications, and the games are a mix of upcoming titles and fan favourites. In the 18+ area, you will find demos for Autopsy Simulator, Marauders, Sunday Gold, and Trepang2. In the 16+ area, you can play Age of Darkness: Final Stand and The Unliving. And finally, in the 0-12+ area, the following games will be playable: Batora: Lost Haven, Bravery & Greed, Golf With Your Friends, Hokko Life, Honey I Joined A Cult, Overcooked!, Ship of Fools, The Knight Witch, The Serpent Rogue and one unannounced title. Exciting!
Sharing the booth with Team17 is Astrogon Entertainment, bringing a healthy mix of playable games from different genres. For sim fans there’s Police Simulator: Patrol Officers and Bus Simulator City Ride, followed by kids-friendly games Asterix & Obelix XXXL: The Ram from Hibernia, Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch and Smurfs Kart. Finally, we have Arkanoid - Eternal Battle, F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch, SIFU and Syberia: The World Before.
Not much is known about Kalypso’s Gamescom presence, but we can make some guesses while we wait for their official line-up. While Kalypso is mainly known for the Tropico series, there’s a slim chance we’ll see El Presidente in Cologne. We’re willing to bet that they’re bringing the newly released Dungeons 3: Nintendo Switch Edition, Commandos 3 HD Remaster and tennis game Matchpoint to the show floor though.
Other interesting booths in Hall 7 are a very large presence from Proxima Beta, the parent company of PUBG (so we suspect it’s a PUBG booth), Crunchyroll, LEGO and TikTok, among others!
The headliner of this year’s Gamescom is obviously Xbox, which effortlessly steals the spotlight now that Nintendo and PlayStation have chosen to skip the event. They’re bringing a ton of games, both from their own Xbox Game Studios as well as partner studios and indies. From Xbox Game Studios, you can look forward to playing Pentiment, Age of Empires IV, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Sea of Thieves and Grounded.
The following titles from Xbox partner studios are also playable at the Xbox booth: A Plague Tale: Requiem, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Gunfire Reborn, Inkulinati, Last Case of Benedict Fox, Lies of P, Lightyear Frontier, Planet of Lana and You Suck at Parking. You might remember some of those titles from past Xbox Showcases, and most of them are releasing this year, and coming to Xbox Game Pass!
There’s plenty of other fun stuff to experience at the Xbox booth as well. There are multiple photo opportunities, including a showdown with a huge spider from Grounded and a chance to walk the plank with Sea of Thieves. Or take a selfie with Starfield’s robot companion, VASCO, storm the battlefield with Age of Empires IV, or fight the piglins with Minecraft Legends.
In other words, there's so much to see and play at Xbox, you'll probably be spending a lot of time here!
Prepare for everything Xbox at Gamescom 2022 with our official Xbox products:

Indie video games publisher Humble Games has a lot of great things to show you at Gamescom 2022. You’ll have the chance to check out plenty of demos. Explore the darkest depths of 2D slasher Moonscars and see an unexpected hero emerge in Midnight Fight Express. Enjoy the classic survival horror experience SIGNALIS, which is set in a dystopian future. Or try the atmospheric 2D adventure Ghost Song, get your groove on with the new rhythm RPG: INFINITE GUITARS. Aerosoft is known for their broad portfolio of simulator games, and that’s exactly what you can expect from their exhibition space at the Gamescom show floor. The publisher will be showcasing upcoming sim games, including unannounced titles, as well as hands-on demos for console and PC games. That’s not at all, because Aerosoft is keen on providing the most true to life sim experience you can ask for, bringing three large simulators. Expect a full-motion simulator, a real off-road truck and the cab of a real fire truck, in which you can simulate a rescue lane drive. Sounds like a wild experience to us! Don’t forget to bring your safety cap.
Gunzilla recently unveiled their first game Off The Grid, a tropical cyberpunk battle royale shooter game where players get to shape the story and gameplay. What makes this title stand apart is the fact that film director Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Chappie) is co-developing the game with them. Gunzilla will even be revealing ‘something special’ directed by Blomkamp at the Future Games Show, which will be streamed on August 25. At the show floor, you can expect an immersive Off The Grid experience, with on-site quests and prizes from in-game corporations, stage actors and dioramas. Sadly, it doesn’t seem like we can get hands-on with the game itself, but there’s still fun to be had and goodies to win at the Gunzilla booth.
What Sega is bringing to Gamescom is still shrouded in mystery, as the Japanese publisher still hasn’t announced their line-up. Still, it would only make sense for Sega to promote Sonic Frontiers, their upcoming open world-like game starring their world famous mascot, but there's also the chance that the game is too early in development for a playable demo. Either way, Sega always has fun games to offer, so we'll just have to see for ourselves!
Although Krafton is mostly known for PUBG, the publisher will come to Gamescom with two different projects from its independent studios. First off, Unknown Worlds (known for the Subnautica series) will reveal a brand new IP with a sci-fi setting and imaginative turn-based gameplay. Secondly, Striking Distance Studios will reveal more details on The Callisto Protocol, a survival horror game and a spiritual successor to the beloved Dead Space series that is scheduled to release this December. Both reveals will take place at Gamescom’s opening show on August 23, but only the new, unannounced game will be playable at their booth. But don’t be disappointed, as there will be an “Inmate Bioprocessing Scan Experience”: a photo experience related to The Callisto Protocol, to satisfy your space horror cravings.
Polish developer and publisher Techland will also be present at Gamescom. This year, they've prepared special community events for Dying Light fans. For example, you can get exclusive Dying Light 2 gear if you can prove you've played the game enough by showing your Gamertag to Techland staff at their booth. Techland will also organise a seperate community party during Gamescom, which is not part of the official program but takes place at the same time as the expo.
TaleWorlds is best-known for their Mount & Blade franchise, a strategy action role-playing game. The latest entry to this franchise is Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, which is currently only available on Windows. Luckily for console players, the Turkish developer and publisher announced that the game will be released on PS4, PS5 and Xbox consoles on October 25, 2022. This console version will be playable for the first time at Gamescom, so don’t miss this opportunity!
Koch Media was recently rebranded to Plaion and once again has a strong Gamescom presence, with featured games by several studios. First of all, you can look forward to the highly anticipated reboot of Saints Row, which releases the day before Gamescom and has you explore Santo Ileso as a newly formed gang. Next is Goat Simulator 3, for the first time playable at Gamescom, and is all about the chaotic life of a goat. Also playable are Mato Anomalies: a neo-futuristic detective RPG set in a bygone oriental city, Gungrave G.O.R.E: a third-person action shooter in which you take on the role of Grave, an anti-hero gunslinger that is out for blood, The Last Oricru: a sci-fi medieval RPG with both single-player and co-op modes, centered around storytelling and player choices, the remake of System Shock, and Mount & Blade II Bannerlord: a strategic action RPG in which you build an army, perform quests and play out battles alongside your troops. And if you feel like singing your heart out, then you can go wild in Let’s Sing Presents ABBA, featuring 30 popular ABBA classics and a brand new hit song from their new album Voyage. Last but certainly not least, there will be an unannounced title developed by Ravenscourt premiering at Gamescom. We can't wait to find out what it is!
Publisher 505 Games is bringing quite a few anticipated games to the showfloor, and yes they are all playable! You can get your hands on the upcoming Miasma Chronicles, a tactical action-adventure game set to be released next year. Another promising title is Stray Blade, a beautiful looking action RPG with a fantasy setting. Next up, we’ve got Serial Cleaners, which puts you in the shoes of a murder scene cleaner in the 1990s in New York. And finally, you can try Gunfire Reborn before it comes to Xbox Game Pass in October. This adventure level-based game has you and up to three friends clear levels as cute creatures.
THQ Nordic revealed Handygames’ Gamescom line-up in their recent Digital Showcase, which we can recommend watching if you’d like to get a quick view of their playable games. First up, we’ve got the recently released Endling: Extinction is Forever, in which you play a mother fox that has to defend her little cubs. Yes, it’s as heart wrenching (and cute) as it sounds! Next is the upcoming DE-EXIT: Eternal Matters, a surrealistic afterlife journey presented as a puzzle platformer. Also playable is Airhead, an artsy platform game with a Metroidvania-like style. And finally, you can test the mobile version of Wreckfest.
The German indie publisher Assemble Entertainment recently teased their partnership with Gamescom, confirming that they will be bringing a variety of games from their diverse portfolio to the event. Additionally, they will have one surprise announcement during the Gamescom Opening Night Live show. We hope they will announce their full line-up soon, but in any case, you can expect there to be a lot of interesting indie games to try at the Assemble Entertainment booth!
Daedalic Entertainment’s biggest upcoming title, The Lord of The Rings: Gollum, was recently delayed into the next year, which makes us wonder if the game is ready to be at Gamescom in a playable state. We can only hope so, but realistically, we imagine they might have some kind of fun photo opportunity, or a trailer showcase at their booth this year. We will have to wait and see for ourselves, because the developer hasn’t said anything about their Gamescom line-up yet.
Also present in Hall 10 are booths from NetEase Games, a Chinese developer known for making mobile MMOs, Snowcastle Games, a Norwegian developer making a cute island life game called Ikonei Island, Owlchemy Labs; known for Job Simulator, and tons of other indie developers. Make sure to take a good stroll around Hall 10 to not miss a single game!
