In FUT 22, ICONs are making a return! ICONs represent the greatest players in football history and are equipped with even better ratings than the regular Player Cards. Each ICON receives three different player cards based on three different stages in their career. In FIFA 22, you can get your hands on four new ICONs: Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Iker Casillas, and Cafu.
The best ICONs, however, date back a little further than these four new additions. Brazilian legend Pelé is the highest rated ICON in FIFA 22, with a nearly perfect rating of 98. He’s closely followed by fellow Brazilian superstar Ronaldo (96 OVR) and Diego “El Diez” Maradona (97 OVR). European football history is represented in FIFA 22 by Zinedine Zidane, Ferenc Puskás, Johan Cruyff, and Paolo Maldini. The French icon Zidane tops this list with a 96 OVR, followed by Puskás, Cruyff, and Maldini with a 94 OVR. The best goalkeeper with an ICON status is Lev Yashin. The Russian goalie lives up to his nickname “The Black Spider” with a 94 overall rating. The best ICON of the class of 22 is Brazilian defender Cafu, “Il Pendolino” is rated 94 overall.
As we’ve already discussed in our previous blogs, Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) are the perfect way to obtain new players during the first weeks of FIFA 22. By completing simple trade-in tasks, you’ll receive Player Packs or Player Cards to enhance your squad with new players. For example, you may have noticed an increasing number of players using Anderson Talisca on their team. The Brazilian centre forward received an 82-rated Ones To Watch card that was obtainable through SBCs. One of the best SBCs you can complete right now is Karim Benzema’s LaLiga Santander Player of the Month SBC. Exchanging a squad featuring players from LaLiga and a squad featuring players from France will net you Benzema’s 91 rated Player Card, so this one’s definitely worth pursuing. Make sure you complete this SBC before October 22nd. Looking for a midfielder upgrade? Then Guus Til’s Eredivisie Player of the Month SBC is your best bet right now. Exchange a squad with a minimal Squad Rating of 83, a minimal Team Chemistry of 80 and a minimum of 1 player from the Netherlands, and this Player Card is yours! This SBC is live until October 21st.
Other notable SBCs include Kalidou Koulibaly’s Serie A Player of the Month SBC and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Premier League Player of the Month SBC. However, to unlock these cards you’ll have to complete some very pricey challenges, and in Ronaldo’s case a whopping total of 26 different challenges. So you may want to think twice before investing in these SBCs.
Of course there’s also tons of SBCs that will reward you with Player Packs, so you can always test your luck with these challenges. You might get incredibly lucky and pack some crazy Player Cards like our partner Fuji. Have a look at his SBC Pack opening video:
