Pokémon Contests are also making a return in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. These Contests, now referred to as Super Contest Shows, are all about showing off your Pokémon’s performance skills. Dance with your favorite Pokémon and compete in five different Super Contest Show Categories. Can you get the most Hype Points with your performance?
Remember Amity Square? In the original games, you could take a small selection of Pokémon for a stroll in this soothing place. This feature is massively expanded in the remakes, allowing you to take up to six Pokémon for a stroll at once. In addition, after you’ve visited Amity Square for the first time, you can walk with your favorite Pokémon in towns and along routes. This feature is completely new to the Sinnoh region and a very welcome addition for trainers that are looking to bond even closer with their favorite Pokémon.

Another new feature of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is Ramanas Pak. This brand new park replaces the Pal Park from the originals and allows you to encounter Legendary Pokémon after beating the Elite Four. Obtain “Slates” by exploring the Sinnoh region and place these slates into the corresponding pedestal to Legendaries such as Mewtwo, Rayquaza, Suicune and Moltres. You can even befriend a Mythical Pokémon if you own a copy of Pokémon Sword/Pokémon Shield or Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu!/Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! Sword/Shield owners will receive Jirachi as a companion and similarly Let’s Go owners will obtain Mew.
As is the case with all mainline Pokémon games, there are various differences between the two versions of the remakes. The main difference here is that certain Pokémon are exclusive to one version of the game. For example, you can only obtain Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Ho-Oh, Rampardos, Skuntank and Dialga in Brilliant Diamond. On the other hand, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Lugia, Bastiodon, Purugly and Palkia are only available in Shining Pearl. Keep these exclusives in mind and make sure you pick up your preferred version!
