A relatable and snarky Aloy

One common criticism of the original Horizon games is that the main character, Aloy, can feel a bit lacking in personality. Her constant banter about destiny and headstrong determination are charming at first, but they become repetitive after a while. Lego Horizon adventures turns that around!

From the trailer and gameplay we’ve seen, it’s clear that the developers transformed Aloy into a more relatable and fun character. She’s constantly eating junk food that spawns out of nowhere and making snarky remarks, even against the narrator. As she points out in the official trailer, she ‘has friends, you know’ after the narrator claims that Aloy ‘is all by herself’.

This new iteration of the character absolutely brings a much-needed edge to Aloy, and it suits her very well!

But Aloy brought friends who you may recognize from the Horizon series. You can go on a solo adventure with any of these unlockable characters, or team up in co-op mode and invite another player to the party.

The proud and hungry Erend

You might know Erend as the bold Oseram proud of his heritage, but struggling with  self-loathing. The Erend in Lego Horizon is still a hefty fella, and he loves a good treat. His favourite is a delight from the old world they called ‘doughnuts’. These snacks might distract him, but he’ll be at the front of the action whenever there’s a fight to be won.

Armed with a big hammer and a heart that’s definitely in the right place, he makes his way to the battlefield. Much like the Erend we all know and love.

Varl is the strongest hunter

Patient, understanding and reclusive, we think these definitions sum up Varl from the Horizon series pretty well. One thing that he and his brick-like counterpart have in common, is the complicated relationship they have with their mothers. In the Horizon series, Varl is strained from his mother due to her high standards. Similarly, his Lego character description states he really wants his mother to be proud of him.

Aside from that, Varl is described as the strongest hunter in his village and inspired by the superheroes from the old world. He wants nothing more than to prove he’s just as strong as they are!

Matriarch turned badass hunter Teersa

As a High matriarch of the Nora Tribe, Teersa is a compassionate and open-minded leader. She’s not afraid to stand up to the other matriarchs and admit the things she doesn’t know. In the Lego game, she seems to carry these same characteristics. She even decides to leave her boring duties as a matriarch behind her to join Aloy on her adventure.

Teersa will bring her unmatched wisdom to help Aloy on her mission. But truth be told, she can’t wait to jump back into the action and wield the weapons from her childhood once more. This is one fiery old lady!
