League of Legends introduces Gwen: The Hallowed Seamstress
League of Legends adds a new champion to their roster, Gwen! Gwen was released to the public on 15-4-2021. But who is she? What can she do? Allow us to introduce this brand new LoL Champion to you!
Who is Gwen?
Gwen is a new champion in League of Legends, who was recently introduced with a lot video and gameplay footage. Gwen is a solo top AP (Attack Power) skirmisher. In most cases she will take the top lane and will face her opponent in one-on-one combat. As can be seen in the gameplay trailer, Gwen is a fast paced Champion that heavily relies on quick combos.
Gwen is by no means a Tank. She does not have the best defense and has to carefully pick her fights.
Before Gwen entered the fields of Runeterra, she was just a little doll who loved her maker very much. But sadly, they were ripped apart and the doll sank to the bottom of the ocean. After centuries, Gwen obtained new, mysterious powers at the bottom of the ocean and she is determined to find her maker again.
How to play Gwen and use her abilities
Gwen does not excel in teamfights but shines when flanking enemy champions. Right from the start Gwen can 'poke' her top opponent with her scissors. Use your "Snip Snip!" (Q) to start poking your opponent in combination with your passive "A thousand Cuts", which deals a percentage of the opponents maximum health as damage. Use "Skip 'n Slash" (E) to initiate your opponent, amplify your damage and increase your attack speed.
The first attack you do after "Skip 'n Slash" (E) reduces the cool down of "Snip Snip!" (Q). So, follow-up with "Snip Snip!" (Q) after "Skip 'n Slash" (E) to pressure your opponent. Once Gwen has gained a few levels, Gwen can use her quick combos to deal a good amount of damage to her opponent. This is also a great moment to start ganking the mid lane and help out your teammates.
Once Gwen reaches level 6, you can choose to level her ultimate; "Needlework" (R). Needlework fires a needle towards your enemy. If that needle hits, your opponent takes damage and gets slowed. If you succesfully hit a target after landing ''Needlework'' (R), you can cast it again. ''Needlework'' (R) also applies "A thousand Cuts" to your opponent and thus deals a percentage of your opponent's maximum health as damage.
If Gwen encounters a difficult situation she can use "Hallowed Mist" (W) to survive. "Hallowed Mist" creates a mist around Gwen that makes sure enemies outside of the mist can't target her. As long as Gwen stays in this Hallowed Mist she receives extra 'armor' and 'magic resistance'. But beware, as soon as an enemy enters her mist they can target her! And towers can always hit her too.
