GTA 6 release date delayed to November 19, 2026
Unfortunately, the release date for Grand Theft Auto is once more postponed. On November 9, 2025, Rockstar Games released an official statement that said GTA 6 will be released on November 19, 2026. This is because the game company needs more time. “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve”, Rockstar Games explained.
Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2
On May 6, 2025, Rockstar Games dropped the 2nd trailer for GTA VI. Where the first trailer followed Lucia, in this one we get a closer look at her male counterpart, Jason. We see him going about his day in Vice City, and eventually he picks up Lucia from jail. The new trailer also reveals the full names of the characters, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, as well as the (former) release date: May 26, 2026.

The 1st GTA 6 trailer
On December 5, 2023, the reveal trailer for GTA 6 was released. The trailer came out earlier than expected thanks to leaked footage appearing on X. The official trailer on Rockstar Games' YouTube channel was viewed more than 40 million times within 7 hours of its release.

We've thoroughly analysed both the GTA 6 trailers, and here are the facts.
What is the location of GTA 6?
The trailers both show scenes of beautiful beaches, tall apartment towers, and palm trees. We can even see airboats racing through swamps, and a crocodile storming into a store. As soon as the large letters “Vice” appear, it's undeniable: GTA 6 is set in Vice City, inspired by Miami!
What time period is GTA 6 set in?
The trailers feature social media images of people partying, which confirms that the game is set in the present day.
Who are the main characters of GTA 6?
The game will follow the criminal duo Lucia and Jason, who seem to be a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde. In the 1st trailer, Lucia is seen in her “Orange is the New Black” outfit, and the 2nd one follows Jason as he picks up his partner from jail.
What will the GTA 6 map look like?
There's no official map for GTA 6 revealed yet, however fans of the series have started their own mapping project. If they're right, the GTA 6 map will be around the same size as Just Cause 2, which reportedly takes players over 85 hours to get a 100% completion. Definitely an enormous upgrade from GTA 5.
The last time there was a fan-made map for GTA, the creators turned out to be fairly close to the official map. However, since nothing is officially confirmed, we can't be sure that this is what GTA 6 will look like.
What platforms will GTA 6 be on?
As of now, Take Two has confirmed that GTA 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Any other platforms have not been revealed yet.
When will GTA 6 be released?
Rockstar Games has confirmed that GTA 6 will be released on May 26, 2026.
However, it’s not yet clear whether the game will be available on both Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 on that same date.
