Everything you need to know about the brand new ninth season of Apex Legends: Legacy!
Apex Legends Season 9 was released on the 3rd of May and it sure comes with a lot of awesome new features! Next to the introduction of a brand new Legend and a new weapon, there’s a huge change in the various maps and even a completely different Game Mode! Let’s take a closer look at each of these innovations one at a time…
For season 9 of Apex Legends, you will be introduced to the new legend Valkyrie the Winged Avenger. Her actual name is Kairi Imahara and she’s the daughter of the legend Viper. Her jetpack can lift her (and her allies!) up in the air during fights, making her a very mobile character that can easily relocate during battle. But that’s not all this fierce legend has to offer. These are all her abilities:
With this new 9th Season of Apex Legends a whole new Game Mode is being introduced as well! It is very different from the classic Battle Royale Gamemode but very awesome nonetheless! It’s called Arenas and it will be a permanent gamemode within Apex Legends from now on. Within the arena you play 2 versus 2 or 3 versus 3 in an enclosed battle arena (as the name implies). You have the opportunity to gear up before battle in the Spawn Room, where you can pick your weapons, shields, whatever you think you need to beat your opponent. Then, when the battle begins you either win or die. Classic arena style!
Within the Arenas Gamemode there are two new locations, Party Crasher and Phase Runner. Each have their own unique features which are great for the Arena mode. Next to that, you will find 3 ‘new’ Battle Royale maps now available in Arena mode. These are maps you are already familiar with, but now enclosed to make them suitable for the Arena gameplay. This is very convenient because you already know your way around these maps, so this cuts back on the whole ‘getting accustomed with your surroundings’ phase which usually takes a while when you discover new maps and areas in a game.
If you want to know everything new about all the maps, Arenas and other game modes, Apex has dedicated an entire blog to it for you!
With a new Season, Legend, Gamemode and Maps there has to be an exciting new Weapon in here as well right? Of course there is: the Bocek Bow delivers hyper accurate blows of 100 damage to head and 70 to body. That means the ones wielding this baby will inflict humongous damage at medium range. It might take some skill and practice, but once you get the hang of the Bocek Bow you’re guaranteed to inflict some serious injuries!
Then there’s another influential Patch Note for Season 9 that a lot of fans were hoping for. An adjustment to the starter kit and changes in loot. This has a tremendous impact on the gameplay because you will start out a lot less vulnerable when you already have a knockdown-shield, helmet and some syringes at the ready. The addition of these starter kits is a ‘work in progress’ so this could change again in another update. For now, this is already a great step forward!
