Update 4.5 for PS4 starts rolling out today and brings some long awaited features. First of all, the update will enable PS4 owners to connect an external harddrive to their PS4 to increase the storage space. Any external hardddrive between 250GB and 8TB that is USB3 compatible can now be connected to the PS4. The update enables you to download games on the drive and play them directly from it without requiring having to install it again on your PS4. Gone are the days of deciding which game to delete to make room for a new one!
The update brings good news for PlayStation VR and PlayStation Pro owners as well. You can now watch 3D bluerays using your PlayStation VR, even if you don't own a 3D television. Furthermore, the cinematic mode has been improved, making 2D games look better if you play them in the headset than before. The PS4 Pro gets a new feature called 'boost mode' that will offer a framerate boost to many games that have not been optimalized for the PS4 Pro yet. Make sure to try it out and see if anything improves.
New social features have also been added with a new social activity log, improved party features and custom wallpapers. Watch the video below for details, or discover them yourself on your PS4!
