Nintendo announced a playable demo for Pokémon Sun & Moon will release through the Nintendo eShop starting October 18. The demo will introduce the Alola region and features Ash-Greninja, an alternate form for Greninja used by Ash in the Pokémon: XYZ television series. Players can later transfer this special Greninja to the full version of the game when it launches on November 23.
Through a new video, Nintendo also revealed the first evolutions for the three starter Pokémon. Rowlet will turn into Dartrix (Grass/Flying), Litten turns into Torracat (Fire) and Popplio will evolve in Brionne (Water).
Communications between players will happen in the Festival Plaza. This is where you'll battle or trade with players close to you and chat or interact with them. Interacting with other players will earn you Festival Coins that you can use to buy goodies for your character, or to enter a bouncy castle where you can train your Pokémon. Going up in ranks in the Festival Plaza will increase the rewards and unlocks.
Instead of a PC Box to put your Pokémon in, Sun & Moon features the Poke Pelago, which ThePokémonCompany describes as follows:
“In Poke Pelago, Pokemon that are stored in a PC Box can explore a variety of isles, play on athletic equipment and enjoy other fun activities. If players send many Pokemon to Poke Pelago, they can develop more facilities on the isles and also develop new kinds of isles. As these isles are developed and increase in number, they will allow players to obtain items and even raise Pokemon.”
Pokémon Sun & Moon releases on November 23 for Nintendo 3DS.
