If you were a gamer in the late 90’s or early 00’s, you’re probably familiar with RollerCoaster Tycoon. The first two games plus their expansions were immensely popular and they inspired a whole slew of themepark- and Tycoon-games.
These days, PC gamers with a taste for themepark-management are putting endless hours into the excellent Planet Coaster, but on mobile platforms we’re dealing with a bunch of freemium clones. That changed earlier this month, when Atari launched RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic on iOS and Android.
The game is pretty much what you’d expect from the title. Atari combined elements from the first two RollerCoaster Tycoon and put them in a mobile package. The real surprise here, is that it actually works. The UI has been altered slightly to deal with the more limited screen space and the touchscreen controls, but other than that it’s pretty much the game you know and love. Granted, it works better on a tablet than on a mobile phone, but even on my iPhone I was able to complete several levels without too much issues.
For €5,99 (iOS) or €6,99 (Android) you get 95 scenario’s to play through and you can buy three expansion packs with more scenario’s for €1,99 each. Need more credit on your account? You can get your iTunes and Android codes by clicking the buttons below. (availability depending on region)
