E3 Press Conference: Ubisoft

E3 Press Conference: Ubisoft

It's Ubisoft's turn to show us what they've got. Of course there will be Watch Dogs 2 and we expect to see new The Division content and something with Just Dance. Is Ubi able to surprise us?

Just Dance

Ubisoft opened the show with Just Dance 2017, by having a couple of people on stage dancing to Queen's Don't Stop Me Now. The game will release on all platforms and PC this October, and on Nintendo NX next year.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands

The first actual trailer Ubi shows this year is a cinematic for Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

The developer then talked about some of the story of Wildlands, explaining how Columbia was taken over by drugs cartels. Ubisoft calls Ghost Recon: Wildlands the biggest open-world shooter they've ever done. In the gameplay video that followed, we saw four players infiltrating a cartel base using snipers, drones and other high-tech gadgets.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands will be released on March 7, 2017.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park, got on stage to talk about The Fractured But Whole, the sequel to The Stick of Truth. They revealed you are still 'The New Kid', but instead of a fantasy setting, the kids of South Park are playing superheroes now.

The game looks to stay true to the original, looking pretty much like an interactive episode of the tv show. Parker and Stone talked about the combat as well. You can move around the combat space to get behind cover, and also move enemies around and knock them into objects in the environment. And apparently your farts can rip a tear in the space-time continuum.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be released December 6, 2016.

The Division

Julian Gerighty from Massive Entertainment talked about the future of The Division, and specifically the Underground expansion. Xbox and PC players can play Underground starting June 28, PlayStation gamers will have to wait until August 2.

Gerighty also announced the second expansion, called Survival. This expansion will also be available on Xbox One and PC first and coming to PS4 later.

Eagle Flight

Ubisoft is also entering the VR world, with Eagle Flight. They showed a PvP Capture the Flag mode, in which a team of three eagles have to capture a prey and bring it back to their nest.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew

Star Trek: Bridge Crew is another VR title, where you actually commandeer a spaceship. It will be available on all major VR platforms this fall.

For Honor

Next up was For Honor, a title we haven't really seen much of since last year's E3. A cinematic trailer showed a world literally breaking apart and a bunch of warriors fighting over a stream of fresh water.

Ubisoft also showed a long gameplay sequence, in which a viking wreaks havoc among the samurai.

For Honor will be released on Februari 14, 2017.

Grow Up

Grow Up is the sequel to last year's Grow Home. The adorable robot BUD is back, this time having entire planets to play on. Grow Up will release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One this August.

Trials of the Blood Dragon

Two awkwardly dressed Ubisoft developers got on stage to reveal a very retro Trials trailer, heavily influenced by Far Cry: Blood Dragon. The game supports a lot more vehicles than just crossbikes. It's available right now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Assassin's Creed (The Movie)

Frank Marshall, a well-known movie producer, talked about the Assassin's Creed movie, starring Michael Fassbender. He also had an exclusive behind-the-scenes video up his sleeve.

Watch Dogs 2

Of course Watch Dogs 2 was going to make an appearance as well. The creative director of the game walked us through the San Francisco bay area and playing through a Dedsec mission.

Jim Ryan from Sony also appeared on stage to tease a Watch Dogs movie and to announce PlayStation gamers can access all Watch Dogs 2 DLC a month earlier.

Steep

Yves Guillemot announced Steep, a new Ubisoft IP. The announcement trailer, completely made from game engine footage, shows snowboarders, paragliders and basejumpers playing around on snowy mountaintops. Steep will release this December, beta registrations are open right now.
