E3 Press Conference: Sony

E3 Press Conference: Sony

Sony had some big surprises last year, but will they be able to pull it off again? Here's everything from the PlayStation E3 2016 press conference!

Once again, thanks to Eurogamer for providing some of the trailers and captures.

God of War

After an orchestral introduction, a mysterious trailer started with a boy in a primal setting. Is it Horizon: Zero Dawn? Is it the Last of Us 2? Nope, it's God of War! We see Kratos running through the wilderness hunting prey, before they're attacked by demonesque creatures. The game seems to give players a bit more freedom than previous games in the series, although other parts of the action seem as scripted as ever (which is definitely not a bad thing).

Days Gone

After addressing the tragedies in Orlando, Sony got on with the show with Days Gone, a new game by Bend Studios. The game is set in an apocalyptic future, but the cinematic trailer didn't give us much to go by as far as gameplay's concerned.

Later on in the show, Days Gone was played live on stage. We saw the protagonist from the trailer walking around an abandoned camp in the wilderness that was soon overrun by zombies. The setting reminded us of The Last of Us at first, but with the enormous flow of zombies that was pouring onto the screen, soon it was more like World War Z.

The Last Guardian

One of the big surprises of last year, The Last Guardian, made an appearance as well. The trailer gave us a bunch of new footage to obsess over, showing that Trico is not the only one of his kind. It also gave us a release date: October 25.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

We got to see some new Horizon: Zero Dawn gameplay. Aloy was hunting some robodino's before stumbling upon another character, where we got our first view at the dialog options. The trailer then showed Aloy's ability to tame beasts and to scan them for weaknesses.

Detroid: Become Human

Detroid: Become Human is a new game by Quantum Dream. We see an android negotiator entering a hostage situation gone wrong and it seems there's several options to alter the flow of events.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

The new Resident Evil looks to be one of the first triple-A titles to fully support PlayStation VR. We can only imagine how scary this is when played in Virtual Reality... The game releases January 24, 2017.

PlayStation VR

PlayStation VR will launch (in the US) on October 13, for a $399 retail price. Sony promises support for 50 games before the end of the year.

Sony announced several VR titles such as Farpoint, Battlefront: a X-wing VR Mission and Batman: Arkham VR.

Final Fantasy XV

Where Microsoft had a bossfight, Sony has a Final Fantasy XV Afrojack trailer and Final Fantasy XV VR.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

Dogfights in space? Shoot-outs in zero gravity? Grappling hooks? Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare actually looks pretty great!

There was also a new Modern Warfare Remastered trailer.

Crash Bandicoot

The original Crash Bandicoot games will be completely remastered for the PlayStation 4. Crash will also come to Skylanders later this year.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Relive the entire Star Wars: The Force Awakens story in LEGO! The demo is available right now, with the full game releasing in two weeks.

Death Stranding

Hideo Kojima was brought onto the stage like a true rockstar to reveal the title he's been working on since leaving Konami. We saw a naked Norman Reedus, on a beach with dead whales and people floating in the sky. Yep, this is Kojima alright.

Spider-Man

Apparently Insomniac Games, the studio behind Ratchet & Clank and Spyro, has been working on a Spider-Man game exclusively for PlayStation 4. And that's all we know for now.

Sony E3 2016

Here is the entire press conference, if you want to watch it again. The actual conference starts at around the 30 minute mark.
