You might know Supergiant Games from their earlier games Bastion and Transistor. They're now working on Pyre and they've revealed the first footage of the game. It looks like a living painting, it has a beautiful soundtrack... But what's the story?
By Esther Kuijper
Supergiant Games describes Pyre as a party-based RPG. The details are a bit foggy, but it's clear that you have to work together with other people in the game. The story starts out with you being saved by a group called the Exiles.
You find out the Exiles have set their eyes on winning a mysterious competition called The Rites. Only the very best of the Exiles can win their freedom and escape Purgatory, the world between heaven and hell. You can read the entire story on the website as well.
So far we know that you have to work together with your party of Exiles. Over the course of the game, you will form a bond with them. The game will of course use this to force you to make some choices. Your actions decide who wins The Rites.
That will have to wait a while though, because Pyre won't be released until 2017. It will launch on the PlayStation 4 and PC (through Steam). Your first chance to play the game is at PAX East.
